As a career switcher that lacked thorough marketing experience on my resume, I had to work twice as I hard to build my professional credibility. So during my MBA at NYU Stern, I took on any relevant internship or project that I could find. What you learn in the classroom can only get you so far, so getting opportunities to apply what you know rounds out that education.   

Knowing that I ultimately wanted to work with entertainment or lifestyle brands, I focused my internships around these industries. Many of the programs were very entry level and not the most challenging for an MBA student, but I knew that the experience in these external “classrooms” were going to be vital to my success.
